Community
Working within your community is an important, and sometimes neglected, side to sustainability, a great way to meet people outside of one's normal circle, and to make a contribution back to the environment that sustains your daily living.
Anti Depression Chamber
Anti-Depression Chamber, a collaborative artwork between Barry Roode (Creative Director of Mushaboom Design), and Julie Adamson Miller (JAM Community Art), was originally shown at the Craig Gallery in Dartmouth, NS in September of 2010, and has since been exhibited at the Dalhousie University Medical Centre.

The Banner Project
Sheet Harbour and area, since 2009, has been in the process of a street beautifcation project which has built a sidewalk including several benches, mosaics, and new light standards. The Banner Project was initiated by Julie Adamson Miller to create banners for these new light standards celebrating the traditional communites that make up the Eastern Shore.
Community members were called upon to tell the stories of their own area through a series of workshops as well as through the involvement of local school children who gathered stories from their elders.
Using the stories gathered as inspiration; the Grade 9 students at Duncan McMillan High School designed banners that represented each of the communities.
Mushaboom Design's contribution was through Barry working with the organizing artist, Julie Adamson Miller. Barry gave screen printing workshops during the community events and at the high school, prepared the final designs for print, and is completing a brochure that details the project.
