SUSTAINABILITY

Mushaboom Design is committed to developing products and practices that are environmentally sound and to dedicate ourselves to a program of constant improvement in this regard. Sustainability is a complex concept that needs to be addressed in many ways.

Best Business Practices. We have designed our business model with reduced environmental impact in mind:
-optimizing the use of new technologies to reduce business travel.
-designing internal systems to reduce the use of paper in day to day business.
-developing distributed manufacturing networks that allow us to reduce product shipping.
-made to order manufacturing reduces the need for warehousing infrastructure and further reduces shipping.
-choosing manufacturing partners that are environmentally sensitive in their own practices.
-working with our business community to foster environmental improvement in our industry.

Product Development. We are dedicated to designing products that are environmentally sound:
-where possible, recycled content and or renewable resources are used in our products.
-designing products that are durable to reduce product replacement in the field.
-avoiding the use of chemicals that are harmful to the environment and/or to human health.
-choosing manufacturing practices that reduce the use of water and energy.
-we commit to working with our manufacturers to improve the environmental soundness of our products.

Environmental Standards. This confusing issue has resulted in a good deal of ‘green washing’ or spurious claims to environmental sensitivity. There are many different evaluation systems currently on the market that set out to evaluate the environmental footprint of products. Mushaboom Design has chosen to use the framework of LEED® for commercial interiors in guiding our product development choices.
